Most of the Macau Portuguese restaurants are family owned/operated business, the guests always believe the set price of Portuguese food are higher than casual dinning. When I told my Macanese friends I ate Portuguese fine dining cuisines, they were totally surprised!
Guincho a Galera is a top-notch Macau Portuguese restaurant introduced by Hotel Lisboa Macau, an international branch-store of Michelin restaurant, Fortaleza do Guincho. The restaurant offers authentic and fine dishes but not presented in Spanish molecular gastronomy style. Started with fried bacalhau as the starter, it gives you a strong, flavourful and fresh taste! Baked crab meat in shell elevates the palate with the use of Queen Crab, and the onion brings delicate sweetness as well! Stewed seafood in “Cataplana” Portuguese style is the stretch of the fine taste, its bisque is the great essence to dominate the flavour. The method of managing Roasted suckling pig is different to the whole pig roast— the pig ribs were pulled out with bones first, then rolled into oval shapes and undergo the roast and bake process, in order to create crispy and aromatic texture.
My another favourite— Royal Duck Rice, baked with Portuguese Duck broth and rice, exuded with the aroma of Cantonese clay pot rice, the special charred and oily taste. It is very delectable. The stretch of “refined” taste does not necessary equal to fine decoration, in contrary, the appreciation of appearance, aroma and meticulous taste is Bravo.
